Egypt's annual inflation rate rises in December 2022 – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual headline inflation rate increased to 21.90% in December 2022, compared to 6.50% in the corresponding month a year earlier, state-run MENA news agency cited a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

On a monthly basis, the country’s monthly consumer price index (CPI) recorded 143.60 points in December 2022, up by 2.10%.

The monthly increase was driven by higher prices of food and beverages by 4%, the fruit group by 7.60%, dairy products and eggs by 6.40%, grains and bread by 5%, meat and poultry by 2.80%, fish and seafood by 3.10%, and vegetables by 2.30%.

In November 2022, Egypt's annual inflation rate rose to 19.20%, compared to 6.20% in the corresponding month in 2021.
