Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual core inflation rate increased to 2.5% in April, compared to 1.9% a month earlier, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The monthly core inflation rate stood at 1% last month, compared to 0.4% in April 2019 and 0.4% in March 2020, the CBE said in a statement on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that the country’s annual headline inflation rose by 1.6% month-on-month to 107.5 points in April, compared to 105.8 points in March.
Year-on-year, the annual headline inflation registered 5.9% in April, compared to 12.5% in the same month a year earlier.
