Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt’s agricultural exports increased by 7% to $1.951 billion during the 2020/2021 season, compared to $1.822 billion in the year-ago period, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported, citing data from the Agriculture Export Council.
The volume of agricultural exports during the nine-month period ended 31 May amounted to 3.607 million tonnes, up by 1.66% year-on-year (YoY) from 3.548 million tonnes.
Agricultural exports to Arab countries reached 1.482 million tonnes valued at $673 million, while European countries outside the European Union (EU) and the EU countries received agricultural exports worth $484 million and $475 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, Asian and African countries imported agricultural products from Egypt with respective values of $274 million and $17 million during the nine-month period.
Russia topped Egypt’s market destinations for agricultural exports with a value of $269 million, followed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE with $229 million and $106 million, respectively.
Citrus crops had the largest share among Egypt's agricultural exports with a value of $784 million, followed by potatoes and onion with $189 million and $79 million, in that order.
