Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's Suez Canal registered a monthly record of 112.1 million tonnes in October, up by 11.4% year-on-year (YoY) from 100.6 million, the Chairman of Suez Canal Authority (SCA), Osama Rabie, said.
The number of vessels that passed through the waterway increased by 14% YoY to 1,847 last October, compared to 1,620, Rabie added in a statement on Tuesday.
The revenues grew by 12.4% to $551.1 million in October, compared to $490.2 million in the same month in 2020.
The growth was mainly ascribed to the marketing policy adopted by the authority especially with liquified natural gas (LNG) carriers.
In the first 10 months of 2021, the authority generated $5.2 billion in revenue, compared to $4.6 billion in the same period a year earlier.
