The meeting was attended by the energy ministers of member countries and the observers, according to an official statement.

El-Molla elaborated that energy security and climate protection are two integrated goals, pointing to the pivotal role natural gas plays globally in terms of the global energy mix whether in the short, medium or long term.

General Secretary of GECF, Mohamed Hamel, said GECF includes 19 countries from four continents, representing 72% of global gas exports since its inception in 2001. Total gas consumption represents 23% of the total global consumption of energy and is targeted to reach 26% in 2050, being a clean fossil fuel that will significantly contribute to energy transformation towards new and renewable energy in a fair and smooth way.
