Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, called for an urgent investigation into the massive fire that broke out at a depot in Alexandria Port.
Maait instructed the Egyptian Customs Authority (ECA) to expedite the implementation of measures to decrease the time limit on parties to claim their goods from customs before selling neglected goods in order to prevent accumulation in ports and warehouses, according to a statement on Wednesday.
Part of a five-storey warehouse at Alexandria Port collapsed during the fire on Monday which was extinguished without causing any casualties.
The warehouse included neglected general goods and cosmetics and had no hazardous or flammable goods, the Head of ECA, El-Sayed Kamal Negm, said.
