Cairo – Mubasher: The Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF) is implementing EGP 1.10 trillion worth of projects across Egypt, Chairman of ISDF, Khaled Seddik, said in a press conference.
The total cost of executed and planned projects that aim at developing slums nationwide is estimated at EGP 425 billion. This includes unsafe and unplanned areas as well as random markets.
Valued at EGP 40 billion, the first project aims to develop unsafe areas and includes 357 areas comprising 246,050 units.
Spread over an area of 152,000 feddans, the second project targets the development of slums at EGP 318 billion.
The third project aims to develop random markets and includes 1,150 markets or 306,310 units at an estimated cost of EGP 44 billion.
Two other projects are currently underway, Seddik said, elaborating that the first project covers the development of governorates’ capitals and great cities at a value of EGP 600 billion while the second one targets the development of the 500-feddan historic Al-Fustat area at a value of EGP 60-70 billion.
