Egypt receives new batch of Russian railway cars

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Transport announced that a new batch of the 1,300 railway cars has arrived at Alexandria port.

The shipment includes 13 train vehicles as part of a EUR 1.016 billion agreement with Russia’s Transmashholding, which represents a Russian-Hungarian alliance, for the import and manufacture of 1,300 new railroad cars, the Transport Minister, Kamel El-Wazir, said in a statement on Tuesday.

This brings the total number of railway cars shipped to Egypt to 46 of vehicles with dynamic ventilation, and another 22 vehicles are set to arrive next week.

The agreement includes manufacturing 800 air-conditioned passenger cars, in addition to 500 third-class cars with dynamic ventilation system.
