Egypt raises FY17/18 economic growth forecast to 5.3-5.5%

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s economic growth is expected to rise to 5.3% and 5.5% from 4.8% in the current fiscal year, MENA reported, citing planning minister Hala El-Said.

The minister attributed these forecasts to the recent procedures taken by the Egyptian government towards boosting development.

The Roubeki project, which was transformed from the informal economy to the official sector, was launched over the past period, El-Said added.

The ministry is currently working on issuing law No.141, which includes several incentives for the shadow economy, she added.

El-Said previously said that the government was aiming at raising total investment to 20%, as well as cutting inflation rates, according to MENA.
