Egypt plans to connect 1.2m households to natural gas grid

Cairo – Mubasher: The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla, stressed the importance of expanding the use of natural gas as a more environmentally friendly and less expensive energy source compared to other liquid fuels.

He revealed that the ministry is implementing an ambitious plan to expand the use of natural gas in households and industrial and commercial units, in addition to the establishment of natural gas refuelling stations, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Town Gas plays a key role in achieving the ministry’s plan, which aims at delivering natural gas to about 1.2 million households this year despite the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, the minister added.

The company contributes about 30% to this plan, El-Molla noted, adding that the company has the technical capabilities to implement natural gas delivery projects with the highest standards of quality and safety.

These remarks came during Town Gas Company’s general assembly meeting headed by the minister to approve the company’s business results for 2020.
