Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has increased the average annual subsidies to EGP 3,230 per person from EGP 227 in 2000, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The per-capita total expenditure averaged EGP 22,700 in 2020 from EGP 1,700 in 2000, Madbouly added in his speech during the 32nd seminar of the Egyptian Armed Forces on Sunday.
Spending on health witnessed a 11.3-fold surge, while education expenditures increased by eight times.
The government spends EGP 13,100 annually on each person until reaching the age of 20 years, including education, healthcare, and youth care services.
In 2020, the country’s income reached EGP 2.300 trillion, while its expenses are estimated at EGP 2.750 trillion, excluding loans, grants, and additional cost of debt interest payments.
