Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Labour Emergency Fund has paid EGP 1.3 billion in aid to workers who have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the fund’s Chairman and Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, said.
The aid was directed to 413,466 employees in 3,698 establishments until the end of March, Saafan added in a statement on Sunday.
The minister approved the disbursement of the sixth and seventh batches of emergency aid to workers in the tourism sector.
The aid is equivalent to 100% of the main wage, at a minimum monthly amount of EGP 600.
