Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian trade minister Tarek Kabil has inaugurated the first electric vehicle charging network for electric cars in Egypt.
The network has been established by Revolta Egypt in collaboration with a national company.
The new network is the first step towards the construction of the first infrastructure for electric vehicle services across the North African country, Kabil said.
Revolta has studied the Egyptian roads over the past two years in an effort to provide the optimum service for the Egyptian customers, he added.
The minister stressed that introducing the cutting-edge technology in the Egyptian industry, mainly in vehicles industry, will meet consumers’ demands over the coming period.
Electric vehicles are eco-friendly and a cost-effective, compared with traditional cars, in terms of fuel and maintenance, he pointed out, adding that the new electric vehicle technology will keep pollution at bay.
The world is currently turning to this new technology as one of the solutions to reduce air pollution, as some countries, including England, will ban the sale of traditional vehicles by 2040, he noted.
For his part, Revolta Egypt’s CEO Mohammed Badawi said that the company is working on developing its services to guarantee quick charging with 40 minutes, as well as maintenance services.
The company is also working on a mobile application to locate the nearest charging station, Badawi added, noting that Revolta aims at setting up 65 stations in seven governorates as part of the first phase of the project.
