Cairo – Mubasher: The Chairman of the Financial Services Institute (FSI), the training and research arm of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), Mohamed Omran, issued a decision to establish the Regional Center for Sustainable Finance (RCSF).
The centre, the first of its kind in the MENA region, represents a step towards enhancing the country’s presence on the global green economy map, Omran said in a statement on Sunday.
The value of global green bond markets exceeded $1 trillion since the introduction of this financial instrument in 2007.
In 2020, the value of green bond issuances amounted to more than $200 billion.
Sina Habous, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Sustainable Development, has been named the Executive Director of the new centre.
