Egypt invests EGP 12bn in water, sanitation projects in Fayoum in seven years

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt invested about EGP 12 billion in water and sanitation projects in Fayoum during the last seven years, Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar revealed. 

The total cost of drinking water projects in Etsa and Youssef El-Seddik villages in Fayoum amounted to EGP 1.4 billion as part of the Haya Karima (A Decent Life) initiative, El-Gazzar said in a statement on Sunday. 

New sanitation projects will also be implemented in the coming period using the EGP 9.5 billion loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Chairman of Fayoum Drinking Water & Sanitation Company, Hisham Dorra, said.

During the fiscal year (FY) 2020/2021, a total of EGP 279 million has been invested in replacing, renovating, and resuming the implementation of 19 wastewater projects in Fayoum, Dorra added.
