Cairo – Mubasher: South Cairo Electricity Distribution Company implemented replacement and expansion works of electricity networks at a combined value of EGP 1.5 billion from June 2014 to October 2020.
These works are aimed at improving the performance of electricity networks in Cairo which has about 1.7 million subscribers, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said in a statement on Sunday.
This included the installation of 675 electrical transformers with different capacities and 1,185 low-voltage electric boxes as well as the extension of medium-voltage cables with lengths of 1,210 kilometres (km) and low-voltage cables with lengths of 624 km.
Over the six years, e-payments for digital and mechanical meters in Cairo reached EGP 580 million, he added.
