Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed two contracts to power a gas-insulated substation (GIS) for Zayed's monorail line with a capacity of 22/66 kilovolt (kV) in Cairo.
The first contract was signed with Elsewedy's Egytech Cables to supply and install XLPE underground cables with a capacity of 66 kV and fibreoptic cables at a length of 15 kilometres (km) to connect monorail GIS (Zayed 220), according to a statement on Tuesday.
The contract will be implemented on a turnkey basis within eight months from the date of the award letter at a total cost of EGP 236 million.
Moreover, another deal was signed with a consortium comprised of Egypt Cable and Al-Gammal Contracting to supply and install 66 kV XLPE underground cables and fibreoptic cables at a length of two km to connect monorail GIS (October 1) at a total cost of EGP 35 million over a period of three months.
