Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the country’s achievements in the petroleum sector in fiscal years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.
The country implemented 37 developmental projects in the petroleum and mineral resources sector at a combined investment cost of EGP 431.3 billion, including 18 projects with a cost of EGP 96.7 billion in FY19/20, the Minister of Planning, Hala El-Saeed, said in a statement on Tuesday.
Beheira topped other govenrorates in terms of the cost of petroleum projects with a value of EGP 16.4 billion for five projects, followed by Suez with five projects valued at EGP 7.4 billion, Alexandria with two projects at a cost of EGP 3.9 billion, North Sinai with two projects at a cost of EGP 1.7 billion, and Kafr El-Sheikh with two projects worth EGP 1.4 billion.
Over the last two fiscal years, several major petroleum projects have been implemented, including the Zohr gas field development project with a capacity of 2.7 billion cubic feet of gas per day, the second phase of gas production project at North Alexandria and West Nile Delta fields with a capacity of 0.7 billion cubic feet of gas per day, and the 128-kilometre Nooros-Abu Madi-El Gamil Pipeline with a capacity of 4.7 million tonnes per year.
The projects also include the Egyptian Refining Company’s (ERC) Mostorod project with a production capacity of 4.7 million tonnes of refined products and high-quality oil derivatives per year and the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Phase 9B in the Mediterranean Sea with a capacity of 350 million cubic feet per day.
Total output included 63 million tonnes of crude oil, condensates, and liquefied petroleum gas, 4.562 billion cubic feet of natural gas, 8.2 million tonnes of petrochemical products, and 14.5 million tonnes of mineral materials and products.
Natural gas has been delivered to 2.3 million households, 3,661 commercial facilities, and 94 factories. About 74,600 cars have been converted to run on natural gas.
