Egypt implements EGP 1.5bn projects to raise energy efficiency

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt is implementing EGP 1.5 billion projects to raise energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla, announced.

By applying energy-efficiency measures, these projects will contribute to achieving energy savings at a value of $50 million per year.

This announcement was made during the Egypt-US forum on climate change organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham).

During the forum, El-Molla said that the oil sector is currently executing a six-pillar programme to cut carbon emissions by reforming energy subsidies, increasing reliance on natural gas as a clean fuel, raising energy efficiency, and investing in hydrogen.
