Egypt implements 689 projects in two years

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt has completed 689 projects worth around EGP 72.6 billion in the housing sector across all the governorates during fiscal years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, said.

In fiscal year 2019/2020, 310 projects were implemented at a total value of EGP 24.3 billion, as shown by a report issued by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

El-Saeed remarked that EGP 21.8 billion projects were completed in the Upper Egypt and border governorates during the last two years, representing around 31% of the total projects.

Upper Egypt recorded 158 new projects worth EGP 16.8 billion, while 58 projects were set up in border governorates at a total value of EGP 5 billion.

The report referred that Cairo topped the other governorates in terms of the value of projects, with about 104 projects worth EGP 14.8 billion, followed by Giza with 44 projects worth EGP 10.7 billion.

In addition, around 423,600 housing units were established in the last two years, including around 172,8 social housing units and 144,600 housing units in unplanned and unsafe areas.
