Egypt implements 184 environmental projects with EGP 9bn in six years

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, announced the establishment of 184 projects at a cost of EGP 9 billion from 2015 to 2021, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Wednesday.

The projects cover waste management, industrial waste control, environment protection, sustainable management of national reserves, and air and water quality improvement, as well as projects on raising environmental awareness, Fouad added.

She pointed out that investing in the environment has its benefits for the community and the economy as environmental degradation would cost the country more in the long term.

The ministry has worked on improving air quality in the country and succeeded in reducing suspended dust for the first time by 25% in Greater Cairo and the Delta region.
