Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has extended the deadline for the international gold and mineral exploration tender launched by the Egyptian Mineral Resources General Authority for two months.
Due to the repercussion of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the deadline for bidding for the tender has been extended to 15 September, according to a statement on Wednesday.
In February, Egypt announced the launch of an exploration tender for gold and other minerals such as copper and silver in the Eastern Desert from 15 March until 15 July.
Investors will be given the opportunity to bid on 320 blocks over an area of about 56,000 square kilometres in the Eastern Desert and the Red Sea.
Each block, which will cover an area of 170 square kilometres, will be administered under a tax and royalty scheme.
