Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports to East Asia increased by 44.5% to reach $3.4 billion in 2018, compared to $2.3 billion in 2017.
Meanwhile, the country’s imports from East Asia were valued at $21.2 billion in 2018, up by 24.6% from $17 billion in 2017, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Wednesday.
India led the list of countries importing from Egypt with $1.14 billion, hitting a 28.2% increase from $892.3 million in 2017, followed by China with $1.03 billion exported goods, up by 49.4% from $692.9 million.
As for the importers, China came on the top of the list with a 41.8% surge to $11.43 billion, compared to $8.06 billion in 2017, followed by India with $2.28 billion, down by 2.5% from $2.34 billion.
Meanwhile, fuel, petroleum products, and extractives increased by 61.1% to $1.84 billion, compared to $1.14 billion in 2017, hitting the top of Egypt’s exports for two years in a row.
As for the imports, machines, automatic and electrical devices, and transport equipment topped the list in 2017 and 2018 at $8.27 billion and $5.82, respectively, with a year-on-year 42.1% hike.
