Egypt expects 4% economic growth by year-end

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of planning Hala El-Saeed expected the country’s economic growth to range between 3.7% and 4% by the end of the year.

If the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis persists until the next year, the North African nation's economy is forecast to grow between 3% and 3.5%, El-Saeed added in a statement late on Tuesday.

The country’s economic growth reached 5.6% during the first half of fiscal year 2019/2020 and 5.4% during the first nine months of the year. The economic growth was heading towards a target of 5.8% by the end of the year, she pointed out.

There are several sectors that are flexible enough to achieve growth amid the pandemic such as the agriculture, communications and information technology, pharmaceuticals, and construction, the minister noted.
