Egypt ends crisis of Uganda imposing tariffs on Egypt's exports of iron sheets

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, announced the end of the crisis of the Ugandan authorities imposing 35% custom tariffs on Egyptian exports of iron sheets in violation to the COMESA agreement.

The ministry’s Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) contacted the Ugandan authorities in the last months to end the crisis, according to a statement on Sunday.

In 2019, Egypt’s exports to Uganda reached $112 million, said Ahmed Maghawry, Head of the ECS.

Egypt's top exports to the Ugandan market included paper, food products, building materials, chemical products, plastics, steel sheets, agriculture crops, granite, and marble.
