Egypt denies reports about $7bn bond issuance in H1-21

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Finance denied news reports about its intention to issue international bonds worth $7billion during the first half (H1) of 2021 to finance the budget deficit.

No decision related to this matter has been issued in the current period, the Cabinet’s Media Center said in a statement on Sunday.

During fiscal year 2019/2020, Egypt’s budget deficit recorded 8% of gross domestic product (GDP), compared to 8.1% of GDP a year earlier.
