Egypt currently builds 17 industrial complexes with EGP 10bn

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, affirmed the government's interest in expanding the establishment of industrial complexes, especially those serving small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), across all governorates.

The ministry's Industrial Development Authority (IDA) is building 17 industrial complexes, comprising 5,046 units, at a cost of EGP 10 billion, Gamea said in a statement on Sunday.

These complexes are expected to create about 48,000 direct jobs in several governorates, she added.

Several payment facilities have been given to investors, including the reduction of the reservation advance payment to EGP 10,000 per unit from EGP 50,000.

This came during the minister's visit to the SME complex at El-Baghdady Industrial Zone which has been established in Luxor at a cost of EGP 816 million. The 206-unit complex has 146 units with areas of 432 square metres (sqm) each as well as 60 units with areas of 384 sqm per unit.
