Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Transport is currently implementing the country’s largest rail development project at a cost of more than EGP 225 billion, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Sunday.
The development will cover the infrastructure, signals, workshops, and vehicles as well as the addition of new railways, especially in suburbs and villages.
The ministry is building a railway electrification network at a designed speed of 250 kilometres per hour (km/h). High-speed trains will run at 230 km/h, while provincial and cargo trains will run at 160 km/h and 120 km/h, respectively.
