Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Transport has completed the duplication of the Red Sea Coast Road, Safaga-Qusair-Marsa Alam, with a length of 200 kilometres (km) and a cost of EGP 1.7 billion.
The project is part of a plan to duplicate the Red Sea Coast Road under which 35 km have been completed south of Safaga and a new two-lane path was constructed with a total width of 9.2 metres, Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir said in a statement on Sunday.
This is part of the national project for roads which aims at adding 7,000 km to expand the current road network to 30,000 km.
The ministry is establishing 10 road projects in the Red Sea Governorate at a combined cost of EGP 3.38 billion, including developing Al-Zafarana / Ras Ghareb road with a length of 103 km and Bernice / Shalateen / Abu Ramad/ Halayeb road at a length of 280 km.
