Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government has so far collected EGP 17 billion in reconciliation fees for building violations, the Minister of Local Development, Mahmoud Shaarawy, told the Local Administration Committee at the House of Representatives on Monday.
The country has received 2.7 million requests for settlement of construction violations, Shaarawy said.
He added that the deadline for reconciliation has been pushed to the end of March.
In January 2020, the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ratified a law allowing owners of illegally-constructed buildings to settle with the state.
