Egypt buys 470K tonnes of Russian, Ukrainian wheat

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has purchased 470,000 tonnes of wheat in an international tender.

The state-run body decided to buy 350,000 tonnes of Russian wheat and 120,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat, according to a statement late on Tuesday.

The shipment is expected to take place between 1 and 10 September.

It is noteworthy to mention that Egypt purchased more than 3.5 million tonnes of wheat at a total value of EGP 16 billion from local farmers during the harvest season which started in mid-April and ended in mid-July.
