Cairo – Mubasher: The General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has signed a contract to purchase 420,000 tonnes of wheat through a global tender.
The supply minister purchased 240,000 tonnes of Romanian wheat and 180,000 tonnes of Russian wheat.
Egypt’s strategic reserves of wheat is enough for six months, according to supply minister Mohamed Meselhy said early October.
The major importer of wheat received 3.7 million tonnes and 5.3 million tonnes from local farmers during the fiscal years 2014 and 2015, according to official data.
