Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian cabinet approved a proposal to offer financial incentives to car owners who replace their old vehicles with natural gas-powered ones.
Under the decision, owners of private vehicles will get 10% off of the cost of a new car, up to a maximum of EGP 22,000, according to a cabinet statement on Wednesday.
In addition, taxi and microbus owners will get 20% and 25% off, up to a maximum of EGP 45,000 and EGP 65,000, respectively.
The move is part of the government’s plan to convert or replace 1.8 million cars to operate on natural gas.
