Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Drug Authority has authorised China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, the Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, said in a TV interview late on Saturday.
Zayed expected vaccinations to begin between the second and third weeks of January.
The COVID-19 vaccine has shown 79% effectiveness as announced by the Chinese pharmaceutical giant.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Health reported 1,407 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 140,878 with 113,480 recoveries and 7,741 deaths.
