Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has been ranked first in Africa and the third in the Middle East among the top economies that withstood the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to an infographic published by the Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center on Saturday.
According to the COVID Resilience Ranking issued by Bloomberg in November, Egypt was one of the most resilient countries in dealing with the pandemic, landing the 25th position globally.
The key metrics of the index were monthly cases, monthly fatality rate, total deaths per 1 million, positive test rates, access to COVID-19 vaccines, lockdown severity, community mobility, 2020 GDP growth forecast, universal healthcare coverage, and human development index.

Egypt scored 63.2 points, followed by Turkey with 60.6 points, Saudi Arabia 59.6, India 58.1, Italy 54.2, France 51.6, and Mexico 37.6.
In addition, the UAE landed the 17th position globally and the first position in the MENA region.
Egypt is also among the first five countries which are forecast to avoid economic contraction in 2020.
Moreover, the country had an average seven infections for every 100,000 citizens and 64 deaths for every 1 million citizens.
