Egypt allocates EGP 5bn to develop 500 villages in FY19/20

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Local Development announced tha allocation of EGP 5 billion to resume the development of 500 villages during fiscal year 2019/2020. 

In addition, a total of EGP 2.5 billion has been allocated to ‘Decent Life’ initiative, in addition to a previous allocation of EGP 1.1 billion, according to a statement released by the cabinet’s media centre on Thursday.

During FY18/19, a total amount of EGP 950 million has been disbursed to develop infrastructure and public services in 138 villages.

An amount of EGP 21 billion has been spent on building infrastructure projects, including road pavement and public service development.

A total of EGP 7.2 billion has been disbursed to develop and raise the efficiency of roads with lengths totalling 2,500 kilometres from July 2018 to December 2019.

Moreover, the Local Development Fund announced financing 5,242 small enterprises with EGP 50.8 million from July 2018 to December 2019. 

The first phase of the development programme of Upper Egypt will see EGP 9 billion new investments, the statement showed.
