Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s government has raised its investments directed to Upper Egypt governorates by 22% year-on-year to EGP 31.2 billion in fiscal year 2019/2020, the country’s minister of planning Hala El-Saeed announced in a statement on Thursday.
An amount of EGP 15.7 billion has been allocated to the southern Upper Egypt region which includes the governorates of Aswan, Sohag, Qena, Red Sea, and Luxor, El-Saeed revealed.
In addition, the northern and central regions of Upper Egypt accounted for 25.6% and 24.2% of government investments directed to Upper Egypt, respectively, during the current fiscal year.
The government plans to invest in development programmes in Upper Egypt in a wide range of sectors including education, health, infrastructure, and construction sectors.
