Egypt allocates EGP 2.9bn for Fayoum in 2020-2021

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has directed EGP 2.9 billion investments to Fayoum as part of its 2020/2021 citizen's investment plan, up 38% from the 2019/2020 plan, the Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saeed, announced on Tuesday.

El-Saeed remarked that the number of development projects in Fayoum reached up to 191.

The minister added that EGP 988 million was allocated for the housing sector and slum development in Fayoum, representing 34% of the total investments.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has directed EGP 491.6 million to the governorate's local development sector, EGP 411 million to the pre- university education sector, EGP 276 million for higher education, and EGP 173 million for electricity.

Fayoum has received around EGP 540.3 million for the drinking water and sanitation services.

The Egyptian Minister of Planning concluded that the 2020/2021 sustainable development plan focuses on improving the quality of life across the Upper Egypt governorates.
