Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, revealed that an additional allocation of EGP 14.4 billion has been directed to the healthcare sector since the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis started.
The government allocated EGP 1 billion for the Ministry of Health to provide the necessary protective supplies at the beginning of the crisis and another EGP 1 billion when the second wave of the virus broke out, Maait added in a statement on Wednesday.
This came during the minister’s meeting with a US delegation headed by US Secretary of Treasury, Steven Mnuchin.
At the beginning of the crisis, the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced the allocation of EGP 100 billion to finance a plan to mitigate the impact of the pandemic.
