Egypt aims to introduce e-commerce tax in FY20/21

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government aims to introduce some amendments to the laws related to value-added tax (VAT) and custom duties to include e-commerce and digital services, according to the preliminary financial statement of the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2020/2021.

The government also aims to boost risk management methods at state banks for the optimal use of data and resources.

The procedures include improving the electronic system for tax collection and salary disbursement and increasing the tax exemption limit.

It is worth mentioning that the government raised the income tax exemption cap for employees to EGP 15,000 from EGP 8,000
