Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Manpower and Immigration has signed an agreement with Egypt Trade Union Federation (ETUF) and representatives of business owners, to pay those working in the private sector a 10% social allowance.
The signing was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The initiative aims at supporting workers in time of economic challenges and staggering inflation rates, as the government is carrying out executing economic reforms that include raising fuel prices, and will raise wages by a minimum of EGP 165 and a maximum of EGP 330.
According to the ETUF chairman, Mohamed Elsewedy, 18 million employees will benefit from the initiative, noting that the agreement is not binding to the private sector, but it is a social intiative that aim at standing by workers in a time of serious economic circumstances.
