Egypt-South Korea’s bilateral trade exceeds $3bn in 2022

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, revealed that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and South Korea exceeded $3 billion in 2022.

The Arab Republic exported goods valued at $1.70 billion, marking a significant increase over previous years due to an increase in Egyptian natural gas exports.

Maait noted that Egypt’s exports to South Korea surpassed $240 million during the first three months (3M) of 2023.

He pointed out that Korean investments in the African nation stood at more than $700 million through 180 companies, most of them in vital industrial fields.

In 2022, Egypt and South Korea signed a joint deal to manufacture 320 metro cars. The contract was inked between the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) and a consortium of South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem and the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC).
