Egypt-China trade exchange hits $12.7bn in 9M-22

Cairo – Mubasher: The value of bilateral trade between Egypt and China grew by 9.80% to $12.70 billion in the first nine months (9M) of 2022, compared to $11.90 billion in 9M-21.

Egyptian exports to China amounted to $1.50 billion in 9M-22, higher by 36.70% year-on-year (YoY) than $1.10 billion, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

In addition, the Arab Republic imported Chinese goods valued at $11.10 billion during the January-September 2022 period, up 3.80% from $10.70 billion in the year-ago period.

During fiscal year (FY) 2021/2022, the Asian country invested a total of $563.40 million in the African nation, an annual increase of 16.10% from $485.20 million.

In FY20/21, the remittances of Egyptians working in China edged down by 0.30% YoY to $12.77 million from $12.81 million.

Likewise, the remittances of Chinese workers in Egypt shrank by 48.10% to $5.40 million in FY20/21, compared to $10.50 million in FY19/20.
