Cairo – Mubasher: Trade exchange between Egypt and China rose by 26.7% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2018, registering $8.83 billion.
Chinese exports to the North African nation stood at $7.61 billion in the eight-month period, up 24.8% from the same period last year, data by the Chinese General Administration of Customs (GAC) showed on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Asian country’s imports to Egypt jumped by 40.2% year-on-year to $1.22 billion at the end of August, state-run news agency MENA reported.
Egypt-China bilateral trade reached $1.29 billion in August, as Chinese exports to Egypt valued at $1.11 billion, whereas the imports totalled $183 million, the GAC added.
The GAC previously stated that trade exchange between Egypt and China grew by 24% year-on-year in the first seven months of this year, recording $7.5 billion.
