Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation, Rania El-Mashat, and the European Commission's Executive Vice-President, Frans Timmermans, have inspected the works of the third phase of the Cairo Metro Line III with the presence of European Union's Ambassador to Egypt, Christian Berger.
The third phase of the project aims to limit traffic jams in Greater Cairo and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 9.3 million tonnes, according to a statement on Tuesday.
Egypt has secured EUR 940 million worth of development funding from the French Development Agency, the European Union, and the European Investment Bank to help finance the third phase of Cairo Metro Line III.
El-Masht noted that the transport sector is one of the top sectors that benefited from international partnerships as it has secured $1.8 billion in development funding during 2020.
