Egypt, Ethiopia ink cooperation deals Thursday

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will sign a number of cooperation agreements with Ethiopian Prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn on Thursday.

Both parties are set to hold talks regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, as well as reinforcing the mutual economic and trade relations between both countries.

Both El-Sisi and Desalegn will attend the Egyptian-Ethiopian Joint Committee’s session today.

The preliminary meetings of the Joint Committee, at the level of senior officials, have begun on Tuesday at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ headquarter.

On Tuesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Ethiopian counterpart discussed the latest development of the renaissance dam, in addition to the situation in Somalia and South Sudan. 

Furthermore, both ministers held a political talks’ session, discussing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as regional issues of common concern, according to a statement by Egypt’s foreign affairs ministry.
