Dubai - Mubasher: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) provides around 38% of Dubai Airport fuel needs, delivering around 2.7 million gallons per day for 300 airplanes, said the company’s managing director of marketing, Burhan Al Hashemi.
Al Hashemi told reporters on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2017 in Dubai that Emirates dominate around 80% of ENOC’s supplies, due to its continuous growth and expansion, with the remaining 20% distributed over flydubai and other airlines.
Jebel Ali refinery provides most of the needed supplies, its production capacity has been increased from 140,000 barrels per day to 210,000 bpd, Al Hashemi noted.
Any changes in fuel prices affect the aviation sector and fuel contracts, as deals with airlines is carried out through bids, with the airline choosing the supplier based on a number of factors, including prices and availability.
The marketing director is expecting demand will continue to grow with a number of companies moving to Al Maktoum International Airport in Jebel Ali.
ENOC is working on connecting a 16-kilometer pipeline to the airport, and it is set to be completed by 2019.
