EGX loses EGP 5.4bn in market cap at Monday's close

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session on a negative note, pressured by foreign selloffs.

The main EGX30 index inched down by 0.03% to 11,523 points as the heavyweight Commercial International Bank - Egypt (CIB) retreated by 1.18% to EGP 62 after generating EGP 47.9 million in turnover.

Likewise, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI slid by 1.29% to 2,411 points, whereas the EGX100 EWI fell by 1.04% to 3,475 points.

Meanwhile, the EGX50 EWI declined by 0.95% to 2,442 points.

The market cap value dropped by EGP 5.4 billion to close at EGP 704.269 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 87.8 million, while local and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 58.45 million and EGP 29.35 million, respectively.

The market’s turnover reached EGP 2.14 billion after 942.31 million shares were exchanged through around 67,320 transactions.
