EGX indices on higher note at open

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange’s indices opened Monday in the green zone.

By 10:20am Cairo time, the benchmark index EGX30 rose by 0.16%, or 13 points, to 7,995.7 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 was 0.20% higher to 362.3 points.

The broader index EGX100 increased moved up by 0.22% to 784.6 points.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 went up by 0.14% to 1,376.6 points.  

Most blue-chips opened the session on a stronger note. CIB, the largest EGX30 constituent, was 0.27% up.

Likewise, Amer Group, Elsewedy, Oriental Weavers, Ezz Steel, GT, and TMG saw a rise between 0.24% and 3.6%.

Meanwhile, EFG-Hermes, Pioneers, and Madinet Nasr slid from 0.15% to 0.5%.   

Egyptians and foreigners were net buyers by EGP 599,000 and EGP 1.7 million respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 2.3 million.

Trading value reached EGP 30.5 million after 8.2 million shares were traded.

Out of 66 stocks traded, 26 were up, 6 down, and 34 flat.

Global Telecom headed the most active stocks in terms of value with a turnover of EGP 6.7 million after 1.6 million shares were traded.

In terms of volume, OTMT was the most active stocks with 3.7 million shares worth EGP 2 million.
