EGX ends Tuesday in red; market cap loses EGP 11.3bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a negative note amid foreign and Arab selloffs.

The main EGX30 index retreated by 2.13% to end the mid-week session at 10,531 points, while the small- and mid-cap EGX70 fell by 2.22% to 2,166 points.

Meanwhile, the EGX100 EWI dropped by 2.22% to 3,090 points and the EGX50 EWI slid by 2.21% to 2,122 points.

The market cap value plunged by EGP 11.36 billion to close at EGP 658.630 billion.

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 17.68 million and EGP 119.26 million, respectively, while local investors were net buyers with EGP 136.9 million.

The market’s turnover reached EGP 1.2 billion after 526.87 million shares were exchanged through around 50,500 transactions.
